Justin Bristol - 30 - Savannah, GA

The short version: Husband, dog dad, graduate student, beer and coffee enthusiast, trying really hard to be vegan.

I got a bike for my high school graduation present. Originally, I used it to get back and forth to work and sometimes rode it on the weekends. A year or two after graduation I was playing in an amateur soccer league, and thought I should get some additional aerobic training in. I started riding it more. Then I rode it some more after that.

I discovered cyclo-cross in 2008, I guess. I wanted a 'cross bike so that I could do more dirt road rides, and maybe take it on some trails. I convinced myself I wasn't going to be a racer and that it was just for fun.

I bought my racing license in May 2009 and entered my first road race that June. 2009/2010 was my first season of racing cyclo-cross and I was hooked.

I made a ton of friends through bike racing and had some pretty amazing opportunities. I managed one of the largest amateur/grassroots team in the country for two seasons. I helped start our collegiate club and hosted a collegiate cyclo-cross race. I've helped my friends get started in the sport and make the most of their talents and abilities.
